In 1881 William is at home with his parents and siblings at Leat Street, Tiverton, working on the family farm.William becomes farm manager at Muckwell after the death of William Lawrence Pitts, and is thus recorded in 1901.
He marries my Great Aunt Kate Pitts, one of the daughters of the house, in the Brethren chapel, Kingsbridge.
By the time he marries Kate they have moved to Woolfardisworthy, and at Winifred's birth they are in Cornwall, at Withiel, where he is a farm labourer.
Although she seems to use the name Kate by preference she was christened Sarah Kate. In 1891 she is visiting 85 year old William Cole, her (step) grandfather at nearby Bickerton.
