Peggy began her training at Exmouth Cottage Hospital and the RD& E when she was 17. In 1939 she was living at Exmouth Cottage Hospital, Marpool Road Exmouth, as a probationer nurse. She took her SRN in Exeter, and worked at the RDE in the Casualty Ward during the blitz in May 1942. She then went to the Croydon Mayday Hospital for 15 years and up to her death had been 13 years at the Withington Hospital Manchester
