| Nr a Plum Tree Court, Holborn A Thomas Berry born in Crediton is found in this area of Holborn, as a visitor to another Thomas Berry, a Cordwainer from Herts. This seems to be a very anonymous part of London, with many Irish residents, and few people giving much detail about their place of birth. This may or may not be our Thomas. The family history simply records that Bricklaying was not to his taste and he went to sea. |

At the 1841 census John is living at Park Street, described as a builder, with wife Martha. Both have ages given as 60. Two Mary Berrys are also there - one aged 25 is probably unmarried daughter Mary though she seems to have taken about 10 years off her age. The other, aged 10, is probably the daughter of William's first marriage to Susan Niner.
