November 1917 Compulsorily transferred to the Labour Corps, and posted to No 597 (H.S) Emp Coy Warley, then to Clacton 9 Nov 1917 ransferred to 5th Bn Rifle Brigade, Eastchurch 27/6/1918.. Discharged 2/1/19 as physically unfit - double hernia and bad teeth. Heart and lungs normal, but bad teeth deteriorated to pyorrhaea. pale, emaciated teeth defective, and has lost flesh Unfit for military service. Blamed some of his health problems on working in bake house.

Percy cannot be found in the 1901 census and it is likely, according to the family, that he served in South Africa in the Boer War like his brother Sidney.
