Aged 1 year he was residing on Paiges in Cruwys Moirchard, the family home and by 1871 when he was aged 11yrs he was living on Stone farm with his family at Thorverton, Devon.
Aged 18 he emigrated to the United States in 1879. Classed as a "Farmer" he sailed on the Alsatia from London arriving at the Port of New York on the 28th March.

On the 11th June 1880 George at 20 was a young farm labourer for English Immigrants Christopher and Elizabeth Taylor in Unadilla, Livingston County, Michigan.

In 1884 he married Leonie May Loucke. He was 24 and she aged 18

By 1900 George was residing in Stockbridge and had been married 16 years with 5 living children and he owned his own farm.

He remained living in Stockbridge, his children leaving and making their own way. He died in 1955
