Note on Husband: James SHUTE

James was the gardener at Creedy Park for over 30 years according to the inscription on his grave.

Note on Wife: Harriet HATTIN

She was living with James and Ellen in 1861.

John and Lucy Greenslade's daughter Harriet Hatting Greenslade seems to have been raised by her aunt. We find the two Harriets with the Wrights in 1871,

In 1881 she is with husband James at the Garden House, Sandford.

In 1891 she is widowed, and is housekeeper for Widowed farmer Joseph Yendell and his son at Nadrid Farm, North Molton. The Wrights seem to have called her Aunt Shute.

In the 1901 census she is still widowed, and living with her sister Ellen in The Village, Sandford.
