In 1830 John is apprenticed to James Wreford, yeoman. He is working as a farm labourer in 1841 at same farm as Hariot Robins - sister to his wife. At 1851 census is at Knowle Barton In 1861 John and Elizabeth are at Knowle Barton, Crediton. Nearby is John's sister Elizabeth who is working at the Parsonage.
