In 1876 his marriage to Alma Ann Parsons was registered at East Stonehouse GRO Ref 5b 588

 

1881 Daniel was aged 26, a Private in the Royal Marines onboard HMS Phoenix PRO Ref: RG11/5634 Folio 31 Page 7 whilst his wife and daughter were residing at 3 Strand Street, East Stonehouse with his Father-in-law Richard Parsons PRO Ref RG11/2204 Folio 29 Page 52

 

In 1891 he was listed as a crew member of HMS Invincible but not on board which was docked at Portsea PRO Ref: RG12/863 Folio 121 Page 31. He was found with his wife and daughter at 5 Albert Terrace, Portsea. PRO Ref: Rg12/877 Folio 38 Page 26. He was still in the Royal Marines, until discharged on 26 July 1895. But he was recorded as being based at Headquarters from January 1891 until Oct 1892, when he was posted to the training ship HMS Lion moored off Torpoint. He returned to Headquarters duties at Plymouth in January 1894, and completed his service after 21 years in July 1895.

 

By 1901 now aged 46 years he had moved inland to The Village, Bow where he had become a postman. PRO Ref: RG13/2128 Folio 53 Page 12. He was formally recorded as appointed as a rural Postman in January 1902, though he had started working at this earlier.

 

His death at 62 was registered at Crediton Sept Q 1917 GRO Ref 5b 381
