Note on Wife: Elizabeth Vielchin DONALD

From Ralph Miller "Elizabeth (Betty) Donald married Thomas Miles who was 1/8th Hawaiian. Tommy had a brother, Nick I think. I don't know much of the Miles at all. I do know Tommy spent many years researching and writing about his ancestor who had been the Chief of the Hawaiian Navy for one of the last kings of Hawaii. He was sent to Italy to attend the Italian Navy academy. They had four children - James (retired police chief of Bellevue Washington), Donald (Butch) and a twin

sister Patricia (Patty), and the youngest boy whose name I can't recall at the moment. I think it was Kimo (James) who competed for the Olympics in 1964 in the 100 yard butterfly. He was the first prominent swimmer to use the "dolphin" kick in the butterfly. He said that although he won his prelim heat, that he ran out of gas in the final elimination heat and thus didn't make the team. I think all of the Miles children attended Punahoe school in Oahu. They lived primarily on the island of Oahu. None live on the islands now."
