In 1851 William is a carter at 14 Collingswood Street, Liverpool with wife Hannah, a Provision dealer and daughter Hannah, aged 4 months, as well as two lodgers and a servant.

In 1861 William is living at 20 Redfern Street, Kirkdale, Everton, Liverpool, where he is a grocer. With him is Eliza Plimmer, 24 year old servant of Grantham Lincolnshire. In 1862 he marries Eliza.

In 1871 he is at Rope Walk Cottages, Kirkdale Liverpool with wife Eliza, daughters Hannah, Eliza, Fanny and son William

In 1881 he is a widower at 4 Chirkdale St, Kirkdale, with his house keeper Emily Wheldon5,6,7
